What the bribe bought

The bribes got Strukton part of the contract to build the metro line in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The sources state no value for it.

What happened

Dutch prosecutors (the OM) say Strukton paid approximately USD 31 million in bribes to a company acting as its agent, from February 2013 to June 2021. Through that agent, a high-ranking member of the ruling family in Saudi Arabia was bribed. An export-credit insurance form stated USD 1.5 million paid to the agent instead of the promised USD 27.5 million. Strukton accepted a EUR 10 million settlement, announced on 30 March 2026, and the company acknowledges the facts. The OM says it intends to prosecute several individuals.
